Tibetan Rugs

Tibetan rugs are a means of survival for many Tibetan people. Not only did they make rugs, but also bedding, and blankets for riding. Many monasteries use these rugs as a tool during meditation. The production of these floor coverings is a tradition that has supported and has been a source of livelihood for many Tibetan families.

Tibetan rugs are often, if not always made from natural fibers. The Tibetan people have had to rely heavily on the production of wool, as most of them are herdsmen. The shavings from their sheep is spun and used in the creation of floor coverings that are sold worldwide.

Tibetan rugs are an element that many people across the world look to implement into their homes. Not only are these types of floor coverings purchased by locals, but rather, they have created an element of desire among many people. Much like a Persian rug, people from other nationalities find it full of culture and history, and rightfully so.
